Read below about an upcoming ITV documentary about historical mistreatment of its aboriginal people:
I ‘m not going to put the boot into Australia’s past history of shocking mistreatment of its indigenous people – Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. The media will do that on its own.
Australia’s former governments’ “White Australia” policies will come back to haunt them from time to time.
Australia present Gillard Government tries to make a lot of capital out of its present multicultural policies, and its political apology made to Aboriginals a few years ago. However, New Zealand has already put its money where its mouth is and paid out well over a billion dollars in compensation to those with land claims. Takes more than an apology. Australia has no immediate plans for compensation anyway.
But Australia should think twice before putting the boot into struggling and homeless unemployed New Zealanders who came to Australia after 2001 and are not entitled to any state or federal help, emergency welfare benefits or student loans to help retrain people and get them back into work. Many of these people are at present living under a bridge in Sydney. PM Julia Gillard has said they won’t change their policies. New Zealanders can go and get help from charities.
Well I say Australia can go to hell on the proverbial handcart. The truth will out, as somebody once said. The Australians still refuse New Zealand apple exports despite a WTO ruling that it breaches international trade laws. The ban has been in existence for over 80 years built on blatant misinformation (lies) about New Zealand having fruit fly and other diseases that would affect their domestic apple market.
The spirit of the Anzacs is all urine and wind! Over a half a million New Zealanders have emigrated to Australia decades before 2001 and help to keep their economy moving.
